Mindfulness meditation

Mindfulness meditation is a Buddhist meditation type. It is based on the concept of being mindful, of having an increased awareness and complete acceptance of the now. During meditation, you are taught to focus on your breath, in and out of her body, i.e. to focus the attention on the experience, without any reaction or judgment from the meditator's part. This allows you to learn to experience thoughts and emotions in your daily life in a much more balanced way, and in full acceptance. Recent studies have shown the practicing mindfulness meditation helps greatly in patients with schizophrenia, because it addresses associated negative symptoms such as poor concentration and attention; it improves awareness of here and now realities ("all we have is this moment."); it helps participants develop improved stress coping skills and a "clearer" mind; and it improves ability to reduce issues of getting caught up in thoughts/feelings (regrets of the past and worry about the future).

Also mindfulness meditation has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety at workplace. As we all know, stress at work is one of the biggest complaints of everybody who is working for another person. Also it is one of the major causes of illnesses, more so than family or financial problems.

Practicing mindfulness meditation allows you to cultivate patience towards others, ourselves, and with our own minds. It also allows us to see everything from a new perspective, through a beginner's eyes, without the preconception of what 'work' and 'job' means to us. Non-judgment is another important criteria that is taught in mindfulness that can related to work. Finally acceptance, seeing things as they actually are in the now, and not through our own judgmental eyes.

Several companies in the US have started introducing mindfulness meditation in their practices, with positive results.
